- Australian red meat industry is worth $23 billion to our economy.
- We have a world-leading reputation for quality and safety.
- All Australian red meat producers have a part to play, so we can ‘stand by what we sell’ and safeguard this enviable status.
It is now mandatory for all Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) accredited red meat producers to have a Biosecurity Plan in place. Although it is not mandatory to be LPA accredited, you can only obtain National Vendor Declarations (NVD) or electronic versions (eNVD) if you are LPA accredited. Therefore, without being LPA accredited, you cannot sell stock. It is mandatory that all LPA accredited producers have a Biosecurity Plan in place.
Producers who obtained LPA accreditation prior to 30 September 2017 will be able to continue trading stock without a Biosecurity Plan in place, until their renewal is due, which will be 12 months from the date of accreditation or last renewal – whichever was the most recent. You will not be able to renew LPA accreditation without a Biosecurity Plan in place.
Farmanco can offer several options to help producers implement a Biosecurity Plan beginning with this downloadable template.
At a later date (and extra cost) Farmanco can offer an on-farm visit by a specialist consultant who will produce a bespoke plan for your business, and a series of workshops. The workshops will provide an overview of biosecurity, its relevance to the industry, examples of real life situations for your consideration, suggestions and recommendations for all business and a copy of the Biosecurity Plan template.
Time will be allocated to working through the template, so that all producers attending will walk away with a completed plan ‘on the day’.
