The benchmark data is produced in a publication entitled The FARMANCO Profit Series. This is an analysis of all clients' production and financial data, which is compiled as part of conducting an annual review for a client. The data is aggregated each year and averages can be developed for different time periods. An important component of the analysis is that income is calculated and costs adjusted for each client, so that it is a true analysis of each year's performance on a profit basis rather than a cashflow basis. By combining all client data good benchmarks are established and individual businesses can see where they stand in comparison to their peers, as well as compare their performance to other uses of their capital. It helps identify the strengths and weaknesses of the business.
